Transport complaints surge 20% to 5,403
Looks like transport is getting worse.
According to a government release, the Transport Complaints Unit received 5,403 complaints and suggestions in the second quarter, of which 118 were suggestions.
The total cases represented a 20% increase compared with 4,501 cases in the previous quarter, and an increase of 21.1% when compared with 4,462 cases in the same quarter of 2011.
The complaints and suggestions were mostly related to public transport services (90%), enforcement matters (6%) and traffic conditions (2%).
The number of cases on public transport services increased 23.5% from 3,938 in the previous quarter to 4,865 in this quarter.
Cases related to road maintenance rose from 38 in the last quarter to 49 in this quarter. However, the number of complaints about illegal parking and other enforcement matters dropped from 372 to 335.
During the period, the unit completed investigations into 4,100 cases.
