Repair, maintenance work provided 17,500 jobs

Each target building has generated 20 job opportunities on average for building professionals, contractors, technicians and workers.

According to Hong Kong Information Services Department, Secretary for Development Carrie Lam said, the scheme to provide subsidies and one-stop technical assistance to owners of old and dilapidated buildings has been highly effective in creating job opportunities for the construction sector.

2,020 buildings have been included in the scheme as of yesterday and among these, 244 buildings have had repairs completed, 544 have work underway, while repairs will start on 710 buildings pending procurement procedures.
